The Farmers Wife

I thought I would create a blog to give you a snippet of our crazy but idyllic lifestyle. for starters i am Rosie 31 yrs old and married Eddy in 2011. It was love at first sight for me, I do believe Eddy's first words when he saw me walk into the pub were "who's the new totty then?" and from there it went. 15 years of living in the heart of Kent with our 2 children Mollie & Finley. We have lived on the farm for over 10 years now and completely love it.

The farm's main produce is livestock/fruit and eddy is the 4th generation. I feel it's a wonderful way to live but it doesn't come without its challenges. Although the year is routined, it can differ so much just from the weather and what the seasons bring. My favourite time is spring. Every year I take off 2 weeks from work and go lambing, there really is nothing better than watching new life coming into the world, plus I always get "my babies" we create a nursing pen just behind our home with all the sock lambs. This means any lambs that have been orphaned come home to me and i hand rear them. i always get attached to one and this year his name was Teddy! i try not to but it's so hard, this particular lamb slept in my house for 3 weeks, i know I'm mad but he was so tiny and needed to sleep near the fire and be cuddled constantly. but the time came when he had to leave me, i can honestly say i found it so hard (soft and stupid i know) but when he left he called for me for a whole week and i wasn’t aloud to go near him otherwise he wouldn’t blend with the other lambs... but sneakily i used to bring him in when my clients would come over and have their hair done, just for a quick cuddle. which bring me to one of my other jobs. I am a full time hairdresser and have been for 16 years. i love it because i can work around school hours and working from home is a bonus because then i can tailor my work around home life too.

The summer days are a juggling act, eddy works around the clock which means i am left to sort things out for myself. i call it the farming widower ...I am so lucky that i have a lot of support from our parents and honestly couldn't run 2 businesses and a home without them. my life is scheduled to the final minute so much so that my mum messages to book an appointment to see me terrible i know but i love the buzz, i thrive off of it. eddy and i are like passing ships sometimes and by the end of the night we both just drop and start all over again the following day. But this is me and how I run, I'm lucky I do most of my friends' hair which means this is how I socialise otherwise I wouldn't see them, kind of feels they have to pay to see me lol! I often get asked how do you do it all... My reply is always the same..I just take every day as it comes, try not to get too stressed out and drink lots of prosecco. but truly we do it for the kids and to create a life for them just like any parent would. Now if someone could please ask the weatherman for some sunshine so Eddy can cut some hay, that would be great. otherwise i'm going to go mad if i hear another comment about the weather.

Thank you for reading a little piece of my crazy life.

Much love as always
